Description of Anvil Roll
The blank Anvil Roll is a core companion component in the thermal bonding calender system of today's nonwoven production lines. Positioned directly opposite the heated embossing roller, it delivers the exact counter-pressure needed to bond thermoplastic fibers—while keeping the web stable and fabric properties consistent.
During thermal bonding, the fiber web runs through the nip formed by the heated embossing roll and the smooth anvil roll. The embossing roller's heat softens the thermoplastic fibers, and the anvil roll applies uniform pressure to form permanent bonding points without harming the surrounding fiber structure. Since the anvil roll is constantly exposed to elevated temperatures and partially molten polymers, its surface must offer outstanding anti-stick behavior, wear resistance, and dimensional stability.
Our blank anvil rolls are made from premium alloy steels—42CrMo, 38CrMoAlA, 9Cr2Mo, and 60CrMo—for excellent mechanical strength and long-term operational reliability. Each roll goes through precision CNC machining, heat treatment, fine grinding, and dynamic balancing to achieve superior roundness, concentricity, and surface finish. These qualities translate into even nip pressure distribution, minimal vibration, and stable operation—even on high-speed lines.
To minimize polymer build-up and fiber adhesion, we offer several surface treatment options matched to the customer's process: mirror hard chrome plating, ceramic coatings, PTFE (Teflon) anti-stick coatings, and special fluoropolymer composite coatings. These advanced surfaces cut cleaning frequency, boost production efficiency, and extend roller service life.
For high-capacity production lines, the anvil roll can be built with internal cooling or temperature control channels to keep operating temperatures stable. Effective thermal management minimizes thermal deformation, ensuring constant nip pressure and consistent fabric quality through long production cycles.
Our engineering team customizes every anvil roll to the customer's equipment specifications—roller diameter, face length, shaft configuration, bearing arrangement, cooling structure, surface roughness, and coating selection. The rolls are compatible with thermal bonding systems from major European, American, and Asian nonwoven machinery manufacturers.
With strong anti-stick performance, high wear resistance, and precision manufacturing, our Anti-Stick Anvil Rolls help manufacturers cut downtime, improve bonding consistency, and raise productivity in spunbond, meltblown, SMS, SMMS, and other nonwoven processes.
