High-Precision Vacuum Traction/Pull  Rolls for Sensitive Web Handling

Description of  Vacuum Traction/Pull  Rolls

Ensure flawless surface integrity and precise tension control with HUATAO’s advanced Vacuum Traction/pull Rollers. Engineered for continuous web materials that demand zero-tension or low-tension handling, these rollers utilize aerodynamic vacuum technology to grip and drive materials without mechanical compression, making them the ideal solution for delicate adhesive coatings and thin films.

Core Applications of Vacuum Traction/Pull  Rolls

Our vacuum traction/pull rolls act as the primary drive mechanism for a wide array of continuous strip materials where tension management is critical. They are extensively deployed in the production of:

  • New Energy Materials: Lithium-ion battery separators and battery electrodes.

  • Metal Foils: Copper and aluminum foils for electronics and packaging.

  • Specialty Films: Automotive safety films, hard-coated films (HC films), and high-performance protective films.

  • Adhesive Products: Tapes and materials with sensitive adhesive layers.

Key Advantages of Vacuum Traction/Pull  Rolls

Nip-Free Traction Power: Generates substantial pulling force without the need for a mechanical nip roller. This eliminates the risk of crushing, wrinkling, or deforming delicate web materials.

Smart Tension Decoupling: Provides flexible isolation between the upstream and downstream tension. The isolation degree is precisely tunable by simply adjusting the vacuum negative pressure level.

Adhesive-Safe Single-Sided Contact: Specifically designed to engage only the non-coated side of the material, completely preventing damage, peeling, or transfer on the delicate adhesive surface.

Anti-Slip Stability: The vacuum suction effectively locks the web in place, stabilizing material positioning and eliminating lateral slippage even at high line speeds.

Bidirectional Operation: Fully supports bidirectional traction, offering the flexibility required for specialized reversing processes or complex machine configurations.

Working Principle & Theoretical Analysis of Vacuum Traction/Pull  Rolls

The traction mechanism relies on the pressure differential between the surrounding atmospheric pressure (Patm) and the internal vacuum negative pressure (Pvac).

1. Drive & Support Shaft: The central shaft serves a dual purpose—it provides the structural rigidity to withstand rotational reaction forces and acts as the vacuum conduit to evacuate air from the roller surface.
2. Surface Traction: The traction force is applied directly to the material at the roller's contact surface.
3. Torque-Based Traction: When the input web tension is high and the output tension is lower, the roller generates torque-based traction to maintain web stability.
4. Torque Generation Formula:
T = (Patm - Pvac) × S × f × R × K

  • (T) Torque output

  • (Patm - Pvac) Pressure differential

  • (S) Surface area of the vacuum zone

  • (f) Coefficient of friction between the material and the roller surface

  • (R) Roller radius

  • (K) Correction factor based on specific operating conditions
